What to Do If Your Passport get Lost or Stolen in Vietnam?

The passport is an important travel document, which certifies the identity of its holder internatinally. If your passport get lost or stolen while travelling, this will cause a lot of troubles to the traveler.
So, what you should do if your passport got lost or stolen in another country? Light Law would like to show you step by step on this procedure.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: Report to the closest Vietnam police station
You need to report to Vietnam police station as soon as possible. The police officer will ask you several questions on the situation, and write you the “Lost/ Stolen report paper”, this paper will help you to prove your lost in step 2.
If you cannot do it or do not know where to find a police station, you can contact Light Law for support.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: Apply for a new passport at your country Embassy/ Consulate
* Contacting your country embassy/ consulate, and present the Police report paper, for more guidance on getting new passport/ temporary passport/ emergency travel document. The working time for getting new passport are different according to each country policy, if you need to travel urgently you can pay some extra fee to get it earlier.
*As soon as your replacement passport is issued, your Embassy/ Consulate will give you a letter to the Vietnamese Immigration Department, which requests their assistance to issue a replacement visa in your new passport.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: Get a new visa or a new temporary residence card
Vietnamese authorities will not permit you to leave Vietnam until your replacement visa is issued.
This step will be complicated to foreigners, you can contact a visa agency to help you out, more convenience, faster and easier.
